How does Maya Abdominal Therapy support female health and wellbeing?
Abdominal Therapy is a non-invasive, external massage technique. It helps to guide abdominal and pelvic organs into their proper position for optimum health and wellbeing. The technique helps to improve organ function by releasing physical and emotional congestion and tension from the abdomen and pelvis, restoring the flow of blood, lymph, nerve impulse and energy. This massage is particularly helpful for women helping to address common female complaints and is also supportive for fertility and during postpartum and perimenopause transitions. The technique involves anatomy, physiology and naprapathy (study of ligaments, joints and muscles and herbal plants) with ancient Maya healing techniques.
Dr Rosita Arvigo, DN, developed the techniques, after apprenticing with Don Elijio Panti, the last of the Traditional Maya Shamen in Central America. Abdominal Therapy combines modern science with traditional healing and wisdom that supports physical, emotional and spiritual health and well being.
As part of the therapy, a self-massage technique is taught to the client so that they can incorporate the healing method into their everyday lives and enhance the effects of the therapy. This is called YAM or Your Abdominal Therapy.
Other aspects of the therapy include castor oil packs and Faja or wrapping of the belly and hips to enhance the therapeutic benefits, spiritual cleansing baths and yoni steaming practice.
